DESIGN

The Bloom Pullover is a wintry floral colorwork sweater with a cozy double folded neckband. Knitted in a lofty yarn, this sweater is warm yet lightweight for the coldest of winter days.

The Bloom Pullover is worked top down, in the round, and seamlessly. Circular needles are used to work in the round, beginning with the neckband that is folded and joined. The yoke is begun and is shaped with German short rows to raise the back neck, followed by the colorwork chart with increases throughout. The yoke is then divided and the sleeve stitches are placed on hold while the body is worked and finished with 2x2 ribbing, switching to 1x1 ribbing for a short time, then bound off.

The sleeves are worked one at a time, placing the held stitches back onto a circular needle and working in stockinette stitch in the round while gradually decreasing to the wrist, finishing with ribbing to match the body.

SKILLS

This pattern requires a working knowledge of knitting in the round, German short rows, increasing, decreasing, reading a chart, stranded colorwork, and Italian bind off.

Circular needles are used to work in the round, switching cable lengths as the yoke grows and then is divided. The sleeves are worked with the shortest cable length, then DPNs as they decrease. Double pointed needles are used for the sleeve cuff ribbing. The suggested cast-on and bind-off methods can be substituted with any other.
